メリットを伝え、相手の負担にならない形で依頼
下記は、現在執筆中の著書のために、私が実際に取材先に送付したメールです。20社送付したうち、OKがもらえなかったのは3社だけでした。
鍵は、著書で紹介されることによって先方にどれだけメリットがあるか、先方はどれだけの時間を割かなければならないかを伝え、そして先方にとってできるだけ負担にならない形(訪問が駄目なら電話、電話が駄目ならメール、質問は前もって送付するなど)で協力を依頼することです。
ちなみに、アメリカ企業は一般に、訪問よりも電話によるインタビューを好みます。
I'm a consultant specializing in strategic alliances
between US and Japanese companies and also a published
author of six books in Japan.
I'm looking for successful smaller e-commerce
companies, such as yours, to interview for my
next book discussing how small companies can be
successful on the Net without turning to VCs or
spending millions of dollars on marketing.
The companies I'm looking for are:
-E-commerce companies that are not VC-backed -E-commerce
companies that are profitable or at least cash
flow positive
-Click-and-mortar companies that have successfully
incorporated the Internet into their existing
business.
The book is scheduled to be published in Japan
in July 2000 by Impress Corporation (http://www.impress.co.jp/information_e.htm),
an online and offline publisher of Internet-related
information.
My latest book about successful US e-commerce
companies has been a hit in Japan. 40,000 copies
were sold in 6 months and it continues to sell.
It has also been translated into Korean and Chinese.

with the profile of your business in the book.
All the interviewees will receive a copy of the
